Fundamentals of SMS Training
At Omni Air International, safety is our top priority, and effectively managing safety risks is crucial to our operations. To that end, we have updated our SMS training to better equip employees with the knowledge and skills needed to proactively address safety risks in their daily duties. This training focuses on the four pillars of SMS, helping employees identify, assess, and manage safety risks to ensure a secure environment. Additionally, this training emphasizes hazard recognition, implementing risk controls, and reporting safety concerns in a non-punitive manner, encouraging a strong culture of safety awareness and accountability across the organization.
The Four Pillars of SMS
- Safety Policy: The foundation of SMS, outlining our organization’s commitment to safety and setting the framework to achieve safety objectives.
- Safety Assurance: Ensures risk control measures are effective by monitoring and reviewing safety performance. Employees can report concerns confidentially through Omni’s non-punitive system.
- Safety Risk Management: Focuses on identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing control measures.
- Safety Promotion: Aims to raise awareness through our training and communication, engaging employees in safety practices and ensuring they are informed of new hazards.
Every employee has a key role in maintaining safety by identifying hazards and reporting them. Employees can report hazards by communicating with their supervisor, submitting a Safety and Security Report (confidentially or anonymously), utilizing our Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), or emailing safety@oai.aero. By actively reporting hazards, employees help ensure a safer environment for everyone. Omni is committed to high safety standards, and together we can achieve continuous improvement
