Aeromed Flights

For a while, various entities in the USAF have asked about a commercial capability to move large numbers of injured persons from areas of conflict or natural disaster.

It never really amounted to much more than inquiry and the occasional notional layout until late last year when our partner ISOS was asked to demonstrate the capability during this exercise at Travis. To cut to the chase, ISOS has Doctors and AeroMed crews but no 767’s. Omni has 767’s! The AeroMed flights were a demonstration of working ISOS AeroMed passengers (approx. 15-35 pax) demonstrating transporting fake “dummy” passengers.

Omni removed a bunch of seats out of 225AX and put in Lifeport Stanchion Litter Systems (stretchers).

We flew around while the USAF watched the ISOS AeroMed team demonstrate they can provide Air Ambulance services on test dummies while we expertly operated and maintained the plane. See figure below with changes to the AFT of the aircraft.

When pilots and flight attendants boarded N225AX to ferry back to AFW, the US Honor Flag was given to Omni Air International for the outstanding performance during the international SOS and USAF Training & Exercises. The flag was on board the very first mission on Monday, June 17, 2024.
